From the beginning of December, Finnair will increase the number of flights on its Tokyo service. There will be four return flights between Tokyo and Helsinki instead of the present two. The Airbus A340-300 aircraft will be used on the route.
"Obtaining additional flights is a real achievement, which we have long awaited. It is also fantastic news for our customers. Our increased capacity to Japan will promote the development of good economic relations between Finland and Japan, and boost tourism and cultural exchange between the countries," explains Finnair's Senior Vice President Commercial Division Mika Perho.
The flights will operate from Helsinki to Tokyo on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and from Tokyo to Helsinki on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Japan is served by two Finnair flights nearly every day. In addition to Tokyo, the company flies to Osaka six times a week until the end of October and three times a week to Nagoya. Finnair is the only airline that flies from Northern Europe to all of Japan's three most important cities. With additional flights planned for next spring, Finland will become the third largest Western airline operating between Europe and Japan.
Finnair has been flying to Japan since 1983. The flights have had Japanese-speaking cabin service staff from the very beginning. Finnair has recently been rated by Japanese customers as their favourite Western airline, in a survey conducted by AB-ROAD Magazine, the country's most reputable travel magazine.
