Finnair Plc Press release Finnair takes over Terminal 2
From Wednesday August 5 on Helsinki-Vantaa airport operates in the same way as
other international airports: departures and arrivals of the flights will
proceed according to the terminal in which their airline operates in. The split
into domestic and international terminals will end. Finnair will concentrate
its traffic and customer services into Helsinki-Vantaa airport terminal 2 (T2),
where also oneworld and other Finnair's cooperating partner airlines are
located.
"After the move, Finnair check-in and departure gates will be much closer to
each other. Distances from one to the other will be cut in some cases from as
much as a kilometre to as little as several dozen metres. Finnair staff and
facilities will serve our customers under a single terminal roof in the
future", Customer Experience Development Manager Markku Remes explains.
From 5 August on all the domestic and international traffic will be handled
from terminal T2. When arriving from domestic flights, the baggage delivery
will take place in the arrivals area 2.
Check-in to most Finnair flights is in the biggest hall of T2; check-in area
201-232. Check-in to Finncomm Airlines flights is mainly at desk 217.
Check-in to Finnair's intercontinental flights departing between 12:00 and
19:00 is, however, in Departure Hall 4, check-in area 411-419.
Check-in to Finnair Leisure flights is also in T2, mainly in the check-in area
201-232, but check-in area 411-419 is also used.
A special service desk is available for families with children and other
special passengers, who are checking in at the check-in area 201-232. Check-in
desk number 216 is marked with the text Special Passengers and with
corresponding symbols. This desk may also be used by children travelling as
unaccompanied minors and by others needing special assistance, such as
customers using wheelchairs.
Information about the correct check-in area is found on the big information
boards and screens in Terminal 2. Due to the changes and the construction works
at the airport, passengers are advised to arrive in good time to the airport
during the coming months.
We recommend that passengers use Finnair's internet or text message check-in
services or the check-in kiosks at the airport. The check-in kiosk can also be
used when you are taking special items of baggage like sport equipment. For
Finnair's scheduled international flights, there are check-in kiosks in
Helsinki-Vantaa's Terminal 2 at departure halls 2 and 4.
Check-in can be done on the internet already 36 hours before the flight for all
Finnair and Finncomm Airlines scheduled flights at the address www.finnair.fi.
Internet check-in can be done also for the return flight from most scheduled
flight destinations.
