Airbus A330 - the last word in passenger comfort
Forty years later, Finnair is living through changes as radical as those experienced when the New York flights were launched: Helsinki-Vantaa is preparing to open a significant terminal expansion, Finnair is again taking new aircraft into its long-haul fleet, and there is a greater emphasis on maintaining the inter-continental flight network.
The first spanking new Airbus A330 aircraft began service on the New York route on April 6, 2009, just before the anniversary. The new aircraft also sported the fresh new, lighter Finnair cabin interior design.
Finnair's aim as a new decade approaches is to offer more direct, faster and more sustainable routes between Asia and North America by means of the via.helsinki route concept.
